Aluminum entrance mats can be refurbished time and time again depending upon their condition and regular maintenance. In many cases replacing the carpet inserts is a more cost-effective option than replacing the existing entrance mat with a brand new aluminum entrance mat/grid altogether. All of our entrance mats secure carpet and other inserts with either staples or rivets on both sides of the aluminum entrance mat, making replacement easy. Other mats may use glue to bond the insert into the aluminum requiring more effort and time to remove. In these instances, it is potentially more costly to remove and replace inserts with the additional labor required to work around the glue/epoxy.

Property managers, facility managers and commercial building owners can refurbish existing aluminum entrance mats at a fraction of the cost of purchasing new mats. When repairing or refurbishing your old entrance mats and grids you do not need any distinctive tools, or specially trained personnel to complete the job. The materials and labor needed to refurbish your existing mat will typically cost about half the price of a new aluminum entrance floor mat.

To begin renovation of your existing roll-up metal mat, you need to start by identifying the correct type of replacement insert and placing an order for the material. The carpet strip replacement material comes on a roll, generally 750 lineal feet in length. Aluminum entrance mats generally have some type of alternating rails -- aluminum followed by a carpet-type insert and then another aluminum hinged rail. The carpet insert rail has a flat center surface with channels on either side running the length of the rail. When restoring your mat, you need to remove the screws, rivets, crimps, etc. from the backside of the mat that hold the carpet strips in the mat.
The existing inserts are then removed, taking special care to clean the channels on either side. The metal portion of the mat should then be thoroughly cleaned/scrubbed, and maintenance performed on any bent rails, etc. The new insert material can then simply be fed into the clean channels, reattached to the aluminum entrance mats by rivets, etc. and replaced in your cleaned existing recessed well; giving you a fresh look that will enhance your surrounding décor.
